Rumchata Eggnog is an alcoholic beverage made with eggnog and RumChata® served in a glass with a cinnamon-sugar rim. It’s the perfect co*cktail to serve at your Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties! And, I even have copycat Rumchata and homemade eggnog you can use in the drink.
Rumchata Eggnog
Eggnog season, I mean the holiday season, is just around the corner! Eggnog is associated with Christmas and New Year’s Eve gatherings, so the more ways to enjoy the creamy drink, the better! Add RumChata®, another cream liqueur, to a glass rimmed with cinnamon and sugar to take the drink to a festive level! And, don’t forget to sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon on top or serve the co*cktail with a cinnamon stick.
Ingredients & Substitutions
Cinnamon Sugar Rim: You would not have to add the cinnamon sugar rim to the glass for this drink, but it adds some sweetness to every sip. Have some cinnamon on hand for garnish, too! Or, add a cinnamon stick to the co*cktail.
Eggnog: I have a more traditional eggnog recipe and a blender eggnog you can use for this recipe. In both recipes, it is up to you if you add any alcohol to the eggnog. After all, the RumChata may be enough of an alcoholic kick that you need.
Rum Chata: RumChata® is a creamy liqueur made in Wisconsin and is described as a Caribbean rum that blends with Mexican spices and Wisconsin dairy cream. It’s a little bit of cinnamon spice in every sip. Make your own if you don’t have any on hand. Or, try another rum cream like Ricura, O’Riley’s, Sangster’s, or Ponche Kuba. Baileys Irish Cream would also be an option for a cream liqueur made with Irish whiskey.
Can I Make This Without Alcohol?
Sure! You could definitely make this drink into a Christmas or New Year’s Eve mocktail recipe. When making eggnog, simply leave out the brandy (or the kind of alcohol you would add to it). And, most store-bought eggnog is nonalcoholic. As for the RumChata®, simply add some cinnamon-flavored creamer to the drink instead.
How to Serve to a Large Crowd
If you don’t want to continue to mix individual drinks all night, make a large batch of this recipe to serve. In a large punch bowl (I like a decorative bowl, especially for the holidays), add the ingredients. Simply multiply the recipe by however many people you are expecting to serve. Store it in the refrigerator until ready to serve. When serving, set the bowl over ice to keep it chilled.
Can I Make Rumchata Eggnog Ahead of Time?
You can certainly get the eggnog made in advance. After it has been made, it will last in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
