Freezable Desserts: Make-Ahead Cookies, Brownies and More (2024)

Throughout the month, I’ve shared some freezer-friendly meals that you can make ahead of time and enjoy later. But there are plenty of freezable desserts you can make too!

Unlike some of my easy-freeze meals that require a little prep or cooking on the back end, these freezable desserts only require thawing.

Freezable Cookies

Cookies are one of the easiest desserts to freeze. And because everyone enjoys cookies, it’s always a good idea to keep some in your freezer!

Best-Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies

Yes, I’m tooting my own horn. These are the BEST-EVER chocolate chip cookies.

Freezable Desserts: Make-Ahead Cookies, Brownies and More (1)

I learned how to make them as a young baker and tweaked the recipe over the years to get them “just right.”

If you’d like to freeze them, make sure they completely cool to room temperature. Then, place them in a freezer-safe bag or container.

I sometimes like to place parchment paper in between the layers of the cookies to ensure they don’t stick to each other!

3-Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies

These three-ingredient cookies end up on my counter more than I’d like to admit… but they’re so simple, they’ve become a go-to whenever I’m craving a sweet treat!

Freezable Desserts: Make-Ahead Cookies, Brownies and More (2)

Here’s the thing with freezing these cookies. If you place the chocolate kiss atop the cookies and place them in the freezer, it will most likely fall off.

But you can still make the peanut butter cookies without the kiss (or freeze raw dough and bake them later!).

New England Jam Cookies

These cookies are near and dear to my heart. Made with buttery shortbread and just a dollop of jam, they’re a classic that I enjoy time and time again.

Freezable Desserts: Make-Ahead Cookies, Brownies and More (3)

Before freezing these, the cookies have to cool and the jam has to completely set.

So, I’d recommend waiting around three hours before putting them in the freezer in an airtight container.

Classic Snowball Cookies

Whether you call them snowball cookies, wedding cookies, Russian tea cakes or something else, these cookies are always a hit. They’re also a great freezable dessert!

Freezable Desserts: Make-Ahead Cookies, Brownies and More (4)

You can go about freezing these cookies one of two ways.

First, you could make the dough and freeze it before forming them into cookies. You can also bake them, freeze them, and roll them in powdered sugar AFTER thawing them when you’re ready to eat.

Freezer-Friendly Breads

Almost every type of bread freezes super well. And luckily, I have quite a few bread recipes in my collection!

The Best Homemade Zucchini Bread

By the taste of this sweet, moist bread, you’d never guess it’s packed with nutritious zucchini! I like to serve it topped with honey butter. But eating it plain is just as enjoyable!

Freezable Desserts: Make-Ahead Cookies, Brownies and More (5)

Before you put this in the freezer, make sure it completely cools to room temperature. Then, cover it in plastic wrap and ensure there aren’t any holes or openings in the wrap.

You can place it in the freezer like this or in a freezer-safe container. It should stay fresh for around four months!

Quick and Easy Banana Bread

This banana bread is truly the best I’ve ever had. And I can thank my grandma for that! It came from her recipe box and every bite reminds me of her.

Freezable Desserts: Make-Ahead Cookies, Brownies and More (6)

Freeze this bread in the same way you’d freeze the zucchini bread above.

Even if you have to make it a few months ahead of time, it’s bound to taste just as fresh after thawing!

Grandma’s Easy Cinnamon Bread

I shared this cinnamon bread last week and something tells me it’s going to be one of my most popular recipes.

Try buttering it on both sides and grilling it (kind of like french toast). Yes, it’s just as enjoyable as it sounds!

Freezable Desserts: Make-Ahead Cookies, Brownies and More (7)

Feel free to slice the loaf in half before freezing it if you don’t want to thaw it all at once. As long as both halves are tightly sealed, you should be good to go!

Brownies and Cake

As long as your cake isn’t super moist, it should freeze beautifully. The same goes for brownies!

The Best Homemade Brownie Recipe

Until recently, I never shared my brownie recipe with you. But it’s always such a hit, I don’t know why it took me so long!

Freezable Desserts: Make-Ahead Cookies, Brownies and More (8)

If you have a busy event coming up, consider making these ahead of time. Typically, they can be frozen for up to three months and thawed to reveal fresh brownies.

Sock-It-To-Me Cake

This cake always reminds me of my mom. It’s always been her go-to for parties and gatherings! It’s also super simple to make because it’s made using boxed cake mix.

Freezable Desserts: Make-Ahead Cookies, Brownies and More (9)

Similar to the breads above, this cake is incredibly easy to freeze. Simply remove it from the freezer and allow it to thaw.

You can heat up a slice in the microwave or enjoy it at room temperature!

Other Freezable Desserts

Most desserts freeze remarkably well. The exception is desserts with high water content (like custards, gelatin-based sweets and puddings). These tend to develop ice crystals that result in breakage.

With that said, here are a few other freezable desserts you can make!

4-Ingredient Peanut Butter Fudge

I will never turn town peanut butter. Whether it’s in a cookie, on a spoon or in this tasty and creamy fudge!

And what I love about this recipe is that you can add mix-ins to make it your own. (Although I highly recommend chopped peanut butter cups!)

Freezable Desserts: Make-Ahead Cookies, Brownies and More (10)

Before you freeze this fudge, wrap it in plastic wrap. This can be done after it’s cut into individual pieces or in a whole block.

Follow by wrapping the plastic-wrapped fudge in aluminum foil for an extra layer of protection. You can keep the fudge like this, or place it in a freezer bag or container.

Cookies and Cream Fudge

The texture in this cookies and cream fudge is unmatched. And let me tell you, I’ll make it any time of the year — whether it’s for tailgates or Christmas parties!

Freezable Desserts: Make-Ahead Cookies, Brownies and More (11)

Freeze this fudge the same way you’d freeze the peanut butter fudge. Oh, and I ALWAYS recommend using parchment paper in between the fudge if it’s not frozen in a single slab. You’ll thank me later!

Hopefully, these freezable desserts help you with your next dessert-worthy event. I know that if I can do something ahead of time it makes the day-of that much simpler!

From my kitchen to yours,

Jill
