Der US-Elektroauto-Hersteller Rivian hat bei Produktion und Auslieferung im zweiten Quartal deutlich zugelegt. Das Unternehmen fertigte von April bis Juni 13.992 Elektrofahrzeuge und damit 4.597 mehr als im ersten Quartal. Die Auslieferungen steigerte Rivian von 7.946 auf 12.640 Fahrzeuge.

In Prozenten ausgedrückt steigerte Rivian seine Produktion im Vergleich zum Vorquartal um 33 Prozent und seine Auslieferungen um 37 Prozent. Im Jahresvergleich zum zweiten Quartal 2022 wird der Fortschritt noch deutlicher: Damals wurden im Werk in Normal im US-Bundesstaat Illinois noch 4.401 Rivians gebaut und 4.467 ausgeliefert. Die neuen Zahlen kommentiert Rivian nur sehr spärlich: „Diese Zahlen entsprechen den Erwartungen“, meldet das Unternehmen. Und: Man sei davon überzeugt, auf dem richtigen Weg zu sein, die zuvor gegebene Prognose von 50.000 Fahrzeugen pro Jahr zu erreichen. Weiter verweist Rivian lediglich auf die Bekanntgabe seiner Q2-Finanzergebnisse, die am 8. August veröffentlicht werden sollen.

Fakt ist: Um das bei der Vorlage der Geschäftszahlen für 2022 ausgerufene Ziel von 50.000 gebauten Fahrzeugen im laufenden Jahr zu erreichen, muss Rivian pro Quartal im Schnitt 12.500 Fahrzeuge herstellen. Im ersten Quartal lagen die US-Amerikaner mit 9.395 gebauten Fahrzeugen klar unter diesem Wert. Im zweiten Quartal bügeln sie dies mit 13.992 Exemplaren aber bereits ein Stück weit aus. Da bei einem so jungen Autobauer im Jahresverlauf von einer Erhöhung der Produktionsrate auszugehen ist, dürfte das Jahresziel also durchaus in Reichweite sein.

Rivians Jahr ist bisher durchwachsen verlaufen.Anfang März wurde bekannt, dass das US-Startup über 12.700 Exemplare des R1S und R1T (also die gesamte Produktion bis zum 15. September 2022) zurückrufen muss, da der Beifahrer-Airbag womöglich nicht korrekt auslöst. Mitte April musste das Unternehmen erneut Fahrzeuge zurückrufen, dieses Mal 5.030 Exemplare des E-SUV R1S. Bei diesen Fahrzeugen entsprach offenbar das Rückfahrlicht nicht den Vorgaben und musste getauscht werden.

Neben der weiteren Produktionssteigerung muss das Unternehmen zudem die Kosten senken, da es 2022 einen Milliarden-Verlust gab.Anfang Februar wurde daher bereits über einen weiteren Stellenabbau berichtet.

Unterdessen gehört Rivian zu jenen Unternehmen, die den Tesla-Ladeport in seinen zukünftigen Stromern verbauen will. Ab 2025 sollen Fahrzeuge der Modellreihe R1 sowie die der kommenden Plattform R2 über NACS-Ladeports verfügen. Bis dahin können Rivan-Autos nach kürzlich gemachten Angaben des Startups mittels Adapter am Tesla-Supercharger-Netz aufladen. Letztere will Rivian ab 2024 bereitstellen. Der Autobauer hat ein entsprechendes Abkommen mit Tesla unterzeichnet. Wenn die Rivian-Fahrzeuge ab 2025 über den Tesla-Ladeport verfügen, soll wiederum ein Adapter angeboten werden, um an CCS-Stationen laden zu können.
