Are Uncrustables® sandwiches healthy?

To answer this question, first we have to define ′′healthy."

The FDA and USDA require that a food product must meet all the following requirements to be described as healthy:

  • Low fat
  • Low saturated fat
  • 90 mg of cholesterol or less
  • At least one of the following nutrients at 10% DV or higher
    • Calcium
    • Iron
    • Protein
    • Fiber
    • Potassium
    • Vitamin D

Uncrustablesproducts do not meet that definition.

If you're wondering whether Uncrustablesproducts are low-fat or low-calorie foods, please be aware that they are not. They are also not, by themselves, complete and balanced meals. Enjoy Uncrustablessandwiches as part of a balanced diet.

Uncrustablesproducts sold in regular grocery stores have anywhere from 190 to 210calories per serving. The classic two-ounce contains 210 calories per serving.

How much protein do Uncrustables® products contain?

A two-ounce Uncrustables Peanut Butter & Grape Jelly Sandwich provides 6 grams (5% DV) of protein* per serving. The amount of protein in other Uncrustablessandwiches varies by type and size. Please check the label for nutrition information.

Club stores and schools offer different sizes, which have slightly different nutrition facts, as reflected on their labels.

No, we updated our recipes in 2017 and replaced all high fructose corn syrup with sugar.

How much fat do Uncrustables® sandwiches contain?

In standard two-ounce Uncrustables products, total fat content is9 grams per serving, and saturated fat ranges from 2 grams to 3 grams per serving. A two-ounce Uncrustables Peanut Butter & Grape Jelly Sandwich contains 9 grams of total fat and 2 grams of saturated fat per serving. Sizes sold at club stores or served through schools have slightly different amounts per serving because they′re a bit larger.

What′s included in Uncrustables® ingredients?

As you′d expect, the ingredients depend on the type of Uncrustables product you choose. Our PB&J-style sandwiches include white or wheat bread on the outside and various spreads on the inside.

Why do some packages say “spread” instead of “jam” or “jelly”?

A product or ingredient can only be called a ′′jelly′′ or ′′jam′′ based on specific FDA definitions, which say that they have to contain a certain proportion of sugar, by weight. Reducing the sugar content to create our reduced sugar products causes the fruit spreads to no longer meet the FDA definitions of ′′jelly′′ or ′′jam."
