Living in Saint Paul in the area of Cathedral Hill is probably the best option around the Twin cities.
Very safe and convenient to access most stores without a car. There is a bus transit that isn’t the best but it works if needed to go further away.
The downside the nightlife. As it is more community older people oriented. It isn’t as vibrant as Minneapolis. The food scene is better in Minneapolis as well or Edina.
I do love the surrounding greenery. And the little cafe and old town feel.
Very charming and elegant.
But not the most eclectic or diverse crowd in the neighborhood.
It is very good for family more than single people.
Or couples for that matters.
The downtown Saint Paul isn’t the safest. But the farmers market is pretty good in the summer.
There are a few good Asian markets on university avenue which a short drive from my neighborhood.

Growing up in St. Paul has been easygoing! Transportation is very accessible whether its public or personal commutes. Most neighborhoods have everything at your expense. There’s a little bit of everybody, very adaptable. And usually helpful people.

Coming from a smaller town in Minnesota moving to St. Paul was daunting. I feel that St. Paul while a big city, feels like my smaller hometown. The safety was hot and cold here. There were multiple friends of mine who dealt with car thefts, home thefts, and garage thefts. Overall I will say that most crimes seemed of a petty manner. St. Paul is also a very diverse community which I really enjoyed. Everyone was very welcoming and I felt comfortable living here. However, I will say that as a college student living around families and older individuals, they were not very accepting of students throwing parties or having large crowds. There is also a lot to do in St. Paul. There were many restaurants, nightlife activities to do, and lots of fun activities for all ages to participate in.
