SHEIN empowers new designers (1)

The SHEIN X Designer Incubator Program announced collections by six designers under its evoluSHEIN by Design branding, a first for SHEIN X entrepreneurs.

The incubator program mentors independent designers in areas including development, manufacturing and sales, offering marketing tools and real-time supply chain analytics. Designers also participate in pop-up events and fashion shows.

The evoluSHEIN design standard requires that fashions are made of at least 30% “preferred materials,” such as recycled polyester, forest-safe viscose and rescued deadstock. Manufacturing is small-batch and on-demand by suppliers vetted for social and environmental practices. These practices fit in with the company’s goals of having a fully circular textile supply chain by 2050 and keep unsold inventory low.

Since the SHEIN X program’s start, nearly 3,000 designers have leveraged SHEIN’s on-demand production to launch more than 25,000 creations. The designers keep the rights to their work and earn commissions.

The company has invested more than $55 million in SHEIN X, with plans to invest $50 million more through 2028. The company also sponsors a $40,000 scholarship and curriculum with Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising that feeds into the SHEIN X incubator.
