A fire destroyed a vacant radio station building in San Bernardino on Wednesday, April 19, the San Bernardino County Fire Department said.
Around 1:50 p.m., fire crews were called to a reported commercial building fire in the area of 990 Inland Center Drive in San Bernardino.
Upon arriving, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from the building, according to a fire department statement.
The crews initially attempted to stop the fire from spreading inside the building. Smoke and fire continued to build and that led to crews switching to a defensive strategy. Crews used aerial devices and hand lines to ultimately suppress the fire.
The fire was stopped after approximately 40 minutes.
The building sustained heavy damage and evidence of transient activity was found in the building, the statement said. There were no injuries reported to either firefighters or residents.
The fire remained under investigation by San Bernardino County Fire investigators.
