We’ve had rather a lot of time to spend some quality time with Gran Turismo 7 since its launch, and we absolutely love it! It is a really good car collecting and racing simulation. To get the most out of GT7, you should look to fine-tune your force feedback settings for your racing wheel.

In this guide, we’ll show you the best Gran Turismo 7 Fanatec force feedback settings. We’ll look at the best settings for the Gran Turismo DD Pro, which is Fanatec’s licensed Gran Turismo 7 racing wheel.

We’ll also look at the best force feedback settings for the Podium F1 racing wheel, and finally, We’ll also include recommended settings for the older, but still PS5 compatible, Fanatec CSL Elite wheel base +.

For each Fanatec racing wheel, I’ve included recommended settings for the wheel itself. These can be controlled via the Fanatec tuning menu on your wheel base directly. And below those settings, I’ve included the recommended Gran Turismo 7 in-game wheel settings.

To get the best racing wheel experience with Gran Turismo 7, I would recommend ensuring you have both the wheel settings and in-game settings set up.

Gran Turismo DD Pro Settings

Below are our recommended GT7 force feedback settings for the Gran Turismo DD Pro racing wheel. These settings have used Fanatec’s recommended settings as a baseline, with slight adjustments from our own testing.

The Gran Turismo DD Pro Racing Wheel is the result of an official partnership between Fanatec and the developers of Gran Turismo 7. Both companies worked together to produce a racing wheel which carries the official Gran Turismo name and logo.

Fanatec GT DD Pro

  • Direct Drive quality on a budget
  • PS5 compatible + Gran Turismo licensed

For PlayStation 5 sim racers, the GT DD Pro is one of the best PlayStation 5 racing wheels you can buy.

In the settings below we have adjusted a few areas. We have increased the NDP (Natural Damper) to give the wheel more damping.

We’ve also reduced the INT (Interpolation) to 1 to be closer to feeling the raw force feedback without any smoothing.

And we’ve also reduced the FEI (Force effect intensity) ever so slightly to reduce some unwanted force feedback spiking.

Podium Racing Wheel F1 Settings

Much like the above settings, the recommended Gran Turismo 7 force feedback settings below are based on Fanatec’s own recommendation but tweaked by us.

We have made some more drastic changes to Fanatec’s recommendations for the Podium F1 wheel for Gran Turismo 7. These result in slightly stronger force feedback with some improvements to reduce any force feedback spikes.

Fanatec Podium F1

  • The best force feedback available
  • Exclusively compatible with PS5 & PC

We’ve bumped the force feedback setting (FF) which is the overall force feedback strength to 65. This will make the Podium F1 feel much stronger and will make better use of the 20Nm of torque available.

We’ve increased the NDP (Natural Damper) to give the wheel a little more damping, and adjusted the NFR and NIN to affect how the wheel feels.

CSL Elite Wheel Base + Settings

The settings below are the recommended settings from Fanatec for the CSL Elite Wheel Base +, which can be found here. We haven’t tested these as we don’t have a CSL Elite wheel base.

However, the Fanatec recommendations for both the GT DD Pro and Podium F1 felt pretty good when we tested and tweaked those. So we imagine these force feedback settings below should be a solid foundation.

The CSL Elite Wheel Base + is Fanatec’s previous generation budget orientated racing wheel. It is no longer in production and can’t be purchased new from Fanatec any more.

It was replaced by the GT DD Pro which offers direct drive sim racing at a relatively low price point.

How to set up a Fanatec wheel with Gran Turismo 7

All of Fanatec PS5 compatible racing wheels offer a relatively quick and easy setup. They’re all plug-and-play and should be recognised by your console right away.

Follow these steps to correctly set up your Fanatec wheel with a PlayStation 5.

  1. Connect your Fanatec wheel to your PS5

Start by connecting your Fanatec wheel to your PS5 via USB. You need to ensure that your pedals are connected to your wheel base. Then that your wheel base is connected to your PS5.

  2. Adjust your Fanatec wheel settings

With the wheel connected to your console, start up your wheel using the power button on the wheel itself. These are in different places depending on which wheel you’re racing with. With the GT DD Pro for example, this button is on the front of the wheel base.

Then go in to the Fanatec tuning menu by pressing the tuning button on your steering wheel. You can then use your steering wheel joystick to scroll up and down through the wheel settings.

Change these settings on your wheel using the recommendations above for your specific wheel.

  3. Adjust the Gran Turismo 7 in-game settings

The final step is to adjust the in-game settings to get the most out of your racing wheel. Start up GT7 and start any race or event.

Then as soon as the event starts, pause the game and head into the settings. It’s here where you will find the in-game wheel settings. Input the recommended settings above depending on which Fanatec wheel you’re racing Gran Turismo 7 with.
