- Convenient Preparation: This family-favorite dip is not only tasty but also easy to make, requiring just one dish for preparation.
Shrimp Dip Ingredients
- Medium Shrimp: You’ll need a pound of shrimp.
- Cream Cheese, softened: Creates a rich, creamy base.
- Sour Cream or Plain Yogurt: Adds tanginess and smooth texture.
- Mayonnaise: Enhances creaminess with a slight tang.
- Shredded Mozzarella: Melts for a gooey, cheesy texture.
- Grated Parmesan: Offers sharp, savory flavor.
- Minced Garlic: Brings bold, aromatic touch.
- Old Bay Seasoning: Adds a unique spice blend for depth.
- Hot Sauce: Optional
- Salt & Pepper:
- Lemon Juice: Adds a bright, citrusy zing.
- Chopped Fresh Parsley: Fresh flavor and garnish.
- To Serve: Veggies, pita chips, or crackers as accompaniments.
How To Make Shrimp Dip
- First, you want to cook the shrimp. If you want inspiration, I suggest using this easy and delicious Lemon Herb Garlic Butter Shrimp recipe.
- Then, let the shrimp cool a bit before chopping them up into pieces.
- In a large bowl combine the cream cheese, mayonnaise, yogurt (or sour cream), shredded mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, garlic, lemon juice, herbs, and seasonings. Please ensure that the cream cheese is softened, otherwise, it will be a bit of a challenge to whip everything together.
- Add the diced shrimp to the cheesy mixture; stir and mix until everything is completely incorporated and transfer the shrimp mixture to a lightly greased 2-quart baking dish.
- Bake for about 25 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
- Remove from oven and serve immediately with veggies, pita chips, crackers, etc.
Recipe Tips And Variations
- Experiment with Seasonings: Don’t hesitate to switch up the flavors by adding various seasonings, spices, or herbs to suit your taste.
- Incorporate Vegetables: Adding baby spinach or chopped bell peppers can introduce a fresh, colorful twist to the dip.
- Alternative Options: If shrimp isn’t available or preferred, consider substituting it with crab or diced ham for a different yet equally delicious flavor profile.
- Make Ahead: You can prepare this dip a day ahead (up to 24 hours), just cover it and keep it in the refrigerator. Take it out 30 minutes before baking to let it reach near room temperature.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container and keep in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 350˚F oven for about 8 to 10 minutes.
Serving Suggestions
I highly recommend serving this dip with my wonton chips, my air fryer potato chips, or my fantastic bagel chips. For a lighter option, grab these air fryer buffalo cauliflower bites, and arrange some broccoli florets and veggie sticks around the bowl with the shrimp dip.

This looks great and I would love to make it. Can I use salad shrimp (precooked)? I would just skip the cooking shrimp part right?

You can freeze this cream cheese dip, but keep in mind that the texture may change and become noticeably grainier when you thaw it.
