Department Summary

The University of Oregon provides an array of services andactivities to help students benefit fully from education programs,as well as carry out its mission of research, teaching, andservice. As a division of Student Services and EnrollmentManagement, the Office of the Registrar is responsible forregistering students, verifying enrollments, creating degreeaudits, articulating transfer credit, developing the ClassSchedule, collecting and posting grades, maintaining academicrecords, issuing transcripts, and awarding degrees. Theseresponsibilities, assignments, and services are completed withininstitutional policies and standards as well as related state andfederal laws and regulations.

Position Summary

The Academic Scheduling Specialist position is integral to thedevelopment of course information for the Class Schedule. Thepurpose of this position is to provide oversight of, and trainingfor academic department preparation, submissions, and checking ofthe Banner class schedule data.

The class schedule is the cornerstone of the enrollment process. Acorrect listing of term courses leads to student registration,institution enrollment management, grade processing, and studentacademic history. This position also functions as a liaison betweenthe Office of the Registrar, academic departments, TechnologyServices, Facilities Services, and University Scheduling in mattersrelating to reservation and maintenance of academicclassrooms.

The person in this position is expected to work independently,maintain the academic standards of the University of Oregon, andinterpret laws and policies governing these areas.

Hybrid, Remote Eligible: This position is based in Eugene with somelevel of flexibility including the option to work on-site, hybrid,or fully remote. All adjusted work arrangements require supervisorand leadership approval.

Minimum Requirements

  • Three years of office experience which included two years atfull performance level and experience generating documents;
    AND
  • Lead work responsibility or coordination of officeprocedures.

  • Ability to work under pressure and with department partners andothers in a professional manner.
  • Ability to think logically and sequentially.
  • Ability to analyze complex scheduling rules.
  • Experience working collegially and collaboratively withfaculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds,as well as working independently.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in using classroom scheduling technology such asCourseleaf and EMS.
  • Experience using Banner or other student informationsystems.
  • One year of experience as a trainer which includedresponsibility for assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluatingtraining needs in an organization.
